The Russell Primary School — a community-focused primary school in Petersham, Richmond, welcoming children aged 3–11.
The Challenge
The Russell Primary School required two distinct types of printed communication, each serving a different purpose but needing to remain visually consistent with the school’s identity.
1. General School Promotion
The school needed an informational A5 flyer to introduce The Russell School to prospective parents. This piece needed to:
- Clearly communicate the school’s ethos, values, and offerings
- Feel warm, approachable, and trustworthy
- Present information in a clear, easy-to-read format
- Work as a general handout for enquiries and community distribution
2. Open Day Promotion
In addition, the school was preparing for an upcoming Open Day and needed promotional materials that would:
- Clearly highlight the event date, time, and booking details
- Be highly visible both on-site and locally
- Work across multiple formats, including:
- An A5 event flyer
- A large outdoor banner/sign
- Be suitable for both print and social media advertising
Both pieces needed to be delivered on a tight timeline while maintaining brand consistency.

- Prominent “Open Day” headline
- Clear date, time, and visit details
- Included a QR code to allow parents to quickly book their place online
- Adapted the visual style to feel welcoming while standing out from the general information flyer
Large-Format Outdoor Banner / Signage
- Adapted the Open Day flyer into a large outdoor banner displayed on the school’s railings
- Optimised the design for distance viewing, ensuring key details remained legible to passers-by
- Maintained visual consistency with the Open Day flyer so messaging was instantly recognisable
- Designed with real-world conditions in mind, including outdoor placement and visibility
